The UConn student chapter of SPE was founded at the Institute of Material Science in 1981. During these more than 30 years, the UConn student chapter has organized various events and activities including tours of local plants in the industry and outreach programs increasing education in polymers from elementary school through high school. The chapter actively participates in or organizes many of the programs at IMS including: the Polymer Program Seminar Series, the SPE Student Seminar Series, the New England Young Scholar Exchange Program and several other outreach programs.
